My PhD is in Health Education and Health Promotion from the University of New Mexico. I have two Master’s Degrees in Nursing, one as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from New Mexico State University, and the other as a Community Clinical Nurse Specialist/Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I earned my BSN in Nursing from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. I am nationally board certified as an Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I am also board certified as an Advanced Holistic Nurse by the American Holistic Nurses Certification Corporation. I have completed Master Training in Enhancing Intuition from the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine. I am licensed as a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Mexico. I have over 20 years of clinical nurse practitioner experience and over 10 years teaching and consulting experience. - My clinical experience includes critical care, correctional care, home health care, and primary care.
- Selected courses I have recently taught include Advanced Psychopharmacology, Teaching and Learning Strategies, Assessment and Evaluation of Learning, Advanced Nursing Theory, and Advanced Nursing Research.
- Selected consulting projects include development of holistic nursing educational programs and courses, research and development of a registration process in Canada for the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner, and implementation of holistic nurse practitioner services in an integrative practice clinic. I have been a site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and a grant reviewer for the US Health Resources and Services Administration. I was Chair of the Subcommittee on Integrative Nursing Practice for the New Board of Nursing until 2005.
My personal life experiences greatly enhance my professional credentials. It is the examination of my own life and circumstances, my surrender to that which is greater than myself, and my own search for meaning that has led me to this time and place where I now joyfully and skillfully give to my clients and to the world that which I now am. |
